The Build Process

Consultation

The first step is to understand what your ideas, requirements and priorities are.

Normally this can be achieved over the phone and or by email but for more complicated projects a site visit is often helpful for all concerned. There is no charge for this service.

  1. Our design team will then start by producing a fully scaled 3D image or images of your project, initially of just the oak structure and secondly with any chosen options. (even if you have existing architectural drawings, this helps us to understand and cost your project.

  2. Once you are happy with the design and dimensions your project is fully costed and you will receive a fully comprehensive quote with all the relevant details and technical specifications. No charge here either.

  3. Sometimes ideas change an budget restrictions can also come into play, so on occasions, we need to modify the plans, choice of options and materials pricing. Our team is available to discuss this with you.

  4. Time to commit! – This works both ways, You sign the quote and we commit to your project.

  5. When you sign the quote and send us your initial deposit, we provide you with a date to start construction and completion.

We provide you will all of the necessary plans for foundations and if required we can work with your architect to ensure smooth progress.

All of the materials are ordered from our suppliers both in France and the UK.

The building part begins with the arrival of the timber at our French workshop.

Our artisans are given detailed plans for every cut of wood and the timber is carefully inspected, cut to length, morticed and tenoned before a dry assembly of the building is completed.

Once the team are happy with the result, it is fully labelled and dissassembled ready for shipping with any other materials direct to site.

  1. Construction begins!

Our team of framers will arrive in time for the delivery, and the frame will rapidly take shape (e.g. a double garage frame will take 2 to 3 days to complete the frame).

Depending on the complexity of options chosen, the remaining time to completion can vary but as previously mentioned, we hit 99% of target dates for completion.

  2. Final inspection.

When all works are complete and the site is cleared and clean the building is formally handed over to you and the final payment is made.
